Rigi Kaltbad

In the heart of Switzerland

The village “Rigi Kaltbad” is situated high above Lake Lucerne on Mount Rigi, Queen of the mountains.
The village is car free and 1500 metres above sea level and can only be reached by mountain railway from Vitznau and Arth-Goldau or by cable car from Weggis, or on foot.

  • From Vitznau with the cog-wheel train up to the Rigi Staffelhöhe station and then it is just a 5 minute walk downhill. It is the fourth house on the right side – it’s a dark brown chalet with green shutters. (this is the best and nicest way!)
    Or from Weggis with the cable car to Kaltbad, then a 10 minute walk up the hill direction Rigi Staffelhöhe, it is the 4th house on the left side.
    Or from Arth-Goldau with the cog-wheel  train to Rigi Staffel, then change to the red train to Rigi Staffelhöhe (or take a 20 min. walk), then 5 minutes’ walk downhill.

  • Cars can and must be parked at the station in the valley.

  • The Mineral bath and Spa are only 5 minutes away from my house.

Mount Rigi is a great nature area, with peaks, valleys, Alpine pastures, open countryside, forests, meadows and imposing rocky slopes. Europe’s first mountain railway, cable cars both large  and small,  kilometres upon kilometres of hiking trails from easy walks to tours lasting several hours, campfire sites, restaurants and hotels, wellness and sports possibilities, not forgetting the fresh air and the breath taking panorama – it all adds up to making your excursion an unforgettable experience, whether in spring, summer, autumn  or winter.
